I started working with Darren to purchase my first home in the fall of 2021. As this was my first home buying experience I didn't quite know what it was I wanted to buy. On our first meeting, Darren spent his Sunday driving all over north county San Diego looking at a range of home types (homes townhouses, and condos). I started working with Darren to purchase my first home in the fall of 2021. As this was my first home buying experience I didn't quite know what it was I wanted to buy. On our first meeting, Darren spent his Sunday driving all over north county San Diego looking at a range of home types (homes townhouses, and condos). Needless to say, I didn't put an offer on anything. We performed this exercise at least three more times before I felt comfortable putting an offer on a home. I was not excited about these homes so I did not put in the winning offers. Darren was nothing but patient and professional during this process advising me to only offer what I felt comfortable with. In December I finally found a single-family home in Vista that "I wanted". I told Darren this, and he went to work putting together an aggressive offer to get accepted. Unfortunately, a cash buyer won. I wrote off the house and moved on. Unbeknownst to me Darren took the proactive step to stay in touch with the listing agent, and when the cash offer fell out Darren got my offer accepted! As this was my first time in escrow I was a bit overcome with fear at the permanence of the decision to buy a home. Again, Darren was patient, responsive, and professional during this process. Even during the holidays, he made sure I got the right inspectors to perform my due diligence on the property. Unfortunately, the property had foundation issues and Darren advised that I pull out of the deal (Thank God!). At this point, I personally became frustrated with the housing market and the fact that I was not coming to the table with cash meant my offer wasn't going to get accepted. I had all but given up. Thankfully Darren always checked in with me, which kept me looking at listings. By January 2022, I concluded that the only way to have an affordable mortgage would be to buy a home with an ADU. I shifted my search to this style of home. On only my third offer on a 3 bed 2 bath home with a 1 bed 1 bath adu Darren was able to get the listing agent to accept my offer. During the inspection period, I found a few issues on the property. Being my proponent Darren was able to negotiate the price down and get me credit on closing costs. Overall I now have a home in a desirable part of north county San Diego with an adu that is covering almost half my mortgage. I can't recommend Darren enough!

We were buying at the top of the market due to a job relocation, so finding a place was quite a challenge in the highly competitive market. Daren valued every showing and made notes of what we liked and didn’t like, considered our lifestyle, activities, and our dog, and worked hard to find a match. It took quite a while because of the low inventory, but instead of encouraging us to buy something that was not truly fit, on several occasions, he actually talked us out of the offering. Now that we know the areas better he was spot on. He could have gotten us to close on something that wasn’t fit, but instead, he put our long-term happiness ahead of his short-term financial goals.
